Welcome to LikeToRead!

This site accompanies www.liketoread.com. It is a place to retrieve documents, sites, articles, and book titles mentioned on that site. More importantly, the Wiki gives you a space to ask for help and give suggestions to others about reading challenges in the 21st Century. So, welcome!

Over the years, I taught in many classrooms and loved many children, adolescents and adults. While teaching full-time, I started working outside my classroom on nights and even weekends to share the ideas I learned with others. I started my own business, LikeToWrite.com and wrote www.liketowrite.com and then www.liketoread.com.My experience shows that teachers have not been taught to teach the proficient reader strategies. Therefore, I also share from my own experience - lessons I created and resources I collected for my own students and ideas my teams developed when I coached on my sites.

I set up the Wiki to support the work I do for North Carolina.
On this site you will find book lists, lesson plans, favorite websites, audio steams, video streams, and Webinars to support coaching the teaching of reading based on the research of David Pearson et al and elaborated by Keene and Zimmermann in their book, Mosaic of Thought. I learned much of what I share from the PEBC, Denver Public Education and Business Coalition: Ellin Keene, Susan Zimmermann, Stephanie Harvey, Anne Goudvis, Debbie Miller, and Cris Tovani - to just name a few.
